5 STAR PIEDMONT PERFECTION!
Maretti is a small independent winery based in Piemonte, in the foothills of the Alps in the north west of Italy. It is home to the country's finest full-bodied red wines.
Vinified in open fermenters with daily pumpovers. The Nebbiolo is immediately separated from skins for pressing after a short maceration period. The fruit is matured independently in a mix of small French oak casks and large Slavenion oak for eight months before blending and a further four months ageing in large oak casks.
The 2021 vintage in Langhe Piedmont is widely considered a good to very good year, with mild weather leading to quality fruit and structured, ageable wines. The growing season was followed by cool, wet conditions in late April and May, which were followed by warm, dry conditions until harvest.
Tasting Note: A lighter Nebbiolo that maintains the varieties typical and very present tannin structure - fine and plentiful. Savoury palate, with aromas of raspberry, tar, leather and sweet spice. A very good drop, paired with lamb or pork. 13.5% ABV.
