DARK BERRY FRUIT, MINT & CHOCOLATE. STUNNING!
The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia.
Like the might of the little wombat, this Little Giant is crafted from a small, single vineyard in the Light Pass sub-region of the famed Barossa Valley of South Australia. The old vine shiraz grapes deliver character and intensity well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard.
Sourced from two vineyards in the Coonawarra (South Australia's premier wine growing region), all the fruit was picked during the early morning to retain colour and flavour retention and then crushed and fermented for a period of up to 10 days. Following primary fermentation the wine was pressed off into a small parcel of new but mostly into older oak for malolactic fermentation and maturation where it was held for a period of 10 months prior to blending and bottling.
The resulting wine is simply stunning! The wine has a lovely perfumed nose of blackcurrant and cassis fruit, followed by chocolate oak, hints of mint and an enticing spice character. The palate displays dark berry fruit flavours upfront with hints of dried herbs and red florals. Supple varietal tannins provide a classical framework and weight to the wine which finishes with integrated fruit and oak driving a long finish. Perfect with roast lamb and mint sauce. 14.5% abv.
A fantastic new release super premium single vineyard wine! This will drink superbly from now - 2030.
