Maretti Barbera Nebbiolo Rosso 2020

Maretti is a small independent winery based in Piemonte, in the foothills of the Alps in the north west of Italy. It is home to the country's finest full-bodied red wines.

The greatest wines of the region are made from the extremely long lived Nebbiolo & Barbera grapes. This 2018 Rosso is made from 75% Barbera and 25% Nebbiolo and it is simply a stunner.

Fragrant, lifted aromas of forest fruits overlaid by notes of dried herbs, leather and aniseed dominate the nose. This medium/full bodied wine, is very well balanced with plush dark blackcurrant flavours, sandy tannins and a lovely freshness with soft acidity. This is extremely approachable and morish, and matches brilliantly with barbequed meats, roast lamb and strong cheeses. 13.5% abv.
